Confused About Your Skincare Routine Steps? Here’s the Right Order

While everyone wants glowing skin, it can sometimes get difficult to find the perfect routine. When you’re young, the process is much simpler – wash your face with any cleanser and apply a moisturizer available at the nearest drugstore. Today, however, we are inundated with beauty products – the sheer variety is likely to baffle you, and by the end of it all, you will be left wondering what’s essential.

To begin with, remember after cleansing, one must start a skincare routine with the thinnest products and then move on to the heaviest. There are certain ingredients that are a complete no-no during the day. For example, retinol is not a great idea, as it makes your skin more sensitive to exposure. Masks and treatments work better when used in the night, so make sure you keep that in mind as you build your regimen.

Morning routine

Cleanse – It might seem unnecessary to wash your face first thing in the morning, but a little refresh will do no harm. There could be some products that might be left on your skin overnight, and they could clog your pores, especially if you work out in the morning. You can use a gentle cleanser that removes dirt and oil without stripping your skin of moisture. If your skin is on the drier side, you could use a hydrating toner too.

Serum – According to most skin experts, using a serum is necessary. While the specific serum you might need completely depends on your skin type, everyone can benefit from products that contain certain ingredients like Vitamin C, niacinamide, and ferulic acid. These ingredients can protect the skin against free radicals and have antioxidants properties.

Moisturiser – You might think you can skip the moisturizer if you have oily skin, but it’s an absolute must. It helps maintain your skin’s moisture throughout the day and also seals the serums underneath. Skin experts say that the best moisturizers provide benefits without making the skin look greasy.

Sunscreen – If there’s one rule you must remember – it is that sunscreen is a must, every single day. SPF protects your skin against any potential damage that can come from sun exposure, which includes dark spots, premature aging, or even skin cancer. Physical sunscreens are best for sensitive skin, while chemical sunscreens work well for oily skin.
